Attendance

Pasadena Unified School District is excited to announce its new attendance awareness campaign! With the theme " Showing Up Matters for R.E.A.L . " – representing "Building Relationships, Increasing Engagement, Access to Resources, Support of Learning" – we embark on a journey to underscore attendance's pivotal role in education.

From August's start to September's close, coinciding with National Attendance Awareness Month, we champion connections, engagement, and resource access, fostering an environment that supports continuous learning. Together, we empower students and parents to recognize attendance's influence on success.

Stay tuned for weekly resources and interactive interventions by the Child Welfare and Attendance Office. Let's make attendance an investment in a brighter future.

Join us in celebrating the impact of Showing Up Matters for R.E.A.L.

Truancy and Unexcused Absences

If a student becomes habitually truant, she may be referred to the School Attendance Review Board (SARB). For an in-depth look at our truancy flowchart, click HERE. During the meeting, the student and parent will be put on an attendance contract with the school. For SART Group Conferencing presentation and Resources click HERE

The School Attendance Review Board (SARB) is a multi-agency panel that meet with the purpose of helping students who are not going to school, and keeping students and parents out of the juvenile court system. A student may be referred to the SARB when she has become habitually truant (5 truant events) and the school has attempted to support the student's attendance through a SART meeting.
